Birth Story Medicine Part II

Part II:  Become a Birth Story Tracker

a four-week course

There is a vast difference between “tracking” a birth story and passively listening and meandering through one. In Part II, you’ll awaken your Tracker archetype as a birth story listener, and heighten your level of attention to detail and learn to follow clues that an ordinary listener would miss.

Part II shows you how to set up a session in a totally new way, that nearly ensures a desied change would change by the end of the hour. Rather than following the Storyteller down their familiar road, everything can change when you have the storyteller follow a new path.

Just as each trail is “one of a kind”
for a wilderness tracker,
after Part II you will experience
every birth story session
as one of a kind.

One of the tasks of postpartum is to gather and examine shattered and scattered beliefs and hopes. But, without a trained birth story listener, parents often tell their story over and over to people who only half listen because they are still in trauma and over-identifying with the storyteller's feelings or beliefs, and thus, cannot attend to the work without judgment.

In Part II, you will learn to:

  1.   Track a story
  2.   Lead, pace, and contain a birth story
  3.   Listen deeply with five "ears"
  4.   Follow the "map" for the first half of a session
  5.   Identify the nine birth story Gates
  6.   Distinguish assumptions, beliefs, and internal conflict
  7.   Offer empathic acknowledgment

Upon registration, you will receive a course outline, reading list, a link to online modules and an invitation to live calls.

Teaching and Learning Methods

Students love our 90-minute live consultations on Zoom each week. Your facilitator will demonstrate each new step and technique to track a story and answer questions. Consider the online Forum a second virtual "classroom" where the facilitator and peers meet to discuss questions, case studies, and insights in email format; it's also where you upload homework and receive constructive feedback.

A direct experience of our birth story process leads to embodied understanding. You can make a private appointment with any one of the facilitators for an additional fee.

To register for Part II, you will need to:

  • Complete requirements of Birth Story Medicine Part I
  • Dedicate a minimum of 30-minutes daily to reading
    and listening to weekly lessons
  • Submit weekly homework on the Forum to receive
    valuable feedback from your facilitator
  • Create a quiet space to participate in the four live
consultation calls (e.g., arrange child care).
